Review "My Summer Reading List"
I know it's not summer ya'll. I'm not tripping...LOL. In fact, it snowed here today. I miss you summer. As I was looking at my neglected blog and thought --before I post the delayed "Fall Book List" or even think about posting the current "Winter Book List"--I should review the books I brought you in "The Summer Reading List" in 2014.
So how did you guys do? I did pretty well, seven out of eight books! Let's all give ourselves a "pat on the back," for having a great summer and we that still took time to read! Now, onto the reviews:
So how did you guys do? I did pretty well, seven out of eight books! Let's all give ourselves a "pat on the back," for having a great summer and we that still took time to read! Now, onto the reviews:
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
You guys already knew what I thought of this one. I wrote a brief review when I suggested it. I stand by that, it is a good book. I would still recommend it.
5 Ways To Carry a Goat by Ben Groundwater
****Recently my cousin visited from his 2 yr "experience." He was backpacking though and living in Southeast Asia. As we discussed his experiences, I expressed a desire of mine. An opportunity to fully embrace the culture of a country; not like a tourist-- but like a "local." He recommended this book.
Update:
OK, so its like one of those quirky pieces of art that you just seem to enjoy. At times, it seemed like I was waiting for something to happen, for more but that's exactly it; it keeps you wanting more. I've been passing this one around kind of like "Flat Stanley." Its seen the world too!
The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta
Alright...honestly, I made no effort. I did not read this one. Didn't even try. I think, I wanted to read this mainly because of the big TV debut. The premise still intrigues me, *shrug, so I may revisit.
I'll Be Home for Christmas by Zane
This is a short story and it was that simple. It is also a light story for all the suspense created in the description, but it's not a fluff piece by all means. Zane is an excellent writer, it just short. I believe it could of been more.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
**** This book had me at, "I fell in love with the way you fall asleep slowly and then all at once." A one liner in the book plastered all over the web. How romantic! I am such a sap at times. This is one of the books that I finished in June before this post; I just had to read this before the movie came out. Definitely recommend this one!!!!!
Update:
Great book. I still haven't seen the film. I need to fix that, wonder if it is on Netflix. I love the female star (Shailene Woodley.)

The Silent Wife by A.S.A
Upon completion of this book my conclusion was, "Damn, you just never know." I thought, I had this one figured out at just about each chapter. Let me just say, I did not see the ending of this book or how it played out at all. Excellent! It has a slow beginning, so I hope you guys stuck with it. An intimate look into a couples struggles and downfall. Quite compelling.
What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty
I am still trying to figure out why this hasn't been picked up by a major motion picture studio???? It was everything!!!!!!! Hello? Dreamworks, Lionsgate...Warner Bros??? Paramount???? Anybody...ugh...Sony? Come on! It has all the makings of a great film (if done right of course.) I really like this one.
Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close
Soooo...I thought this would be a great book, one that I could relate to and I was wrong. It was all just too much. Four main characters who I didn't at all care for at all. None...really? Not one was likable. There was so many characters, who flooded the story, I couldn't figure out who was in relation to who and why. I just stopped trying. I did finish it eventually and didn't get any better.

There you go, my review for the summer books. Did you have the same thoughts? Let me know! The long awaited and long delayed Fall Book List is coming next.
